Holidays in the Bahamas are what dreams are made of. Sun-kissed sands surrounded by the crystal clear Atlantic Ocean; an island which is still classed as the Caribbean, but just lies off the coast of Florida.
The Bahamas enjoys good temperatures all year around, although between November and April, rain can be expected. Whenever you want to visit the Bahamas, and whatever you want to do there, at least you can be rest assured the weather will be fine.
As with most Caribbean islands, there is an exceptional amount of water based activities, particularly scuba diving around the coral and ship wrecks from the days of Black Beard the pirate. There is plenty to see in the Bahamas underwater world.
The sights on land are also quite spectacular. Nassau is the capital of the Bahamas which has a variety of wonderfully interesting sights to see. Amazingly, Nassau is the home to the largest straw market in the world! If that wasn’t enough, it is recommended to climb the top of the Queen’s Staircase and check out the breath taking views. There are opportunities to visit the Ardastra Gardens to gaze at the flocks of flamingos and see the flamboyant peacocks showing off their feather displays.
With the great seas that surround the island, it’s needless to say that the seafood cuisine is a must try. Fishermen land marlin, sailfish, tuna or mackerel as a taste of just some of the fish available there. Fresh grilled fish with their refreshing fruity drinks add to the laid back, relaxing Caribbean way of life.
But if you want to put some more excitement in to your holiday, there’s not only the energetic thrill-seeking water sports, but by night, indulge in the range of casinos, offering slots to roulette.
The Bahamas is a great place to buy duty free luxury goods such as jewellery, perfume, watches, cameras etc. But if shopping isn’t your cup of tea, the Bahamas is renowned for its number of championship grade golf courses and excellent tennis and squash facilities. There is something for everyone, and it will probably take more than one trip to get through it all!
