Paros is a place to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet, especially away from the main Paros beaches. Unspoilt by tourism, there are plenty of Greek atmosphere to absorb and natural beauty to enjoy in Paros. Parikia and Naoussa are the main resorts where tourists flock to which contrast with the pretty Paros villages like Lefkas and Marpissa with their white washed houses, typical Greek squares and family run tavernas.

Things to do in Paros

Paros boasts some of the best beaches in the Cyclades. They are clean and well maintained and beautiful to relax and enjoy. Watersport enthusiasts are particularly fond of these beaches as they are good for scuba diving as well as windsurfing. Recommended beaches include Kolimbrethes, Santa Maria and Minastir near Naoussa.

If you don’t fancy the beach all day there are day trips available to explore the neighbouring islands, such as the tiny Antiparos with its stunning stalactite caves, Paros offers many interesting day trips. In Pirakia there is a cathedral dating back to 326AD and in Petaloudes you can see the Valley of Butterflies.

There’s fine walking among olive groves, fruit orchards and pretty farmland or if you prefer, explore horseback along the mountainous trails or along the coastal paths. The views will be stunning.

Shopping in Paros

Paros offers a great variety of shops, some are seasonal but many are open all-year round. Most of the shops in Paros are located in the old quarter market street, which can be found in the heart of the capital, a few minutes walk from the port. Other shops can be found in Parikia and Naoussa. Among them are many clothes & shoe shops ranging from highly priced designer items to cheaper bazaar shops. There are several unique hand-made jewelry and craft shops.

There are many galleries which can also be found in the narrow streets of Parikia, displaying and selling paints, sculptures, objects, created by artists from all over the world. Whatever you are looking for in Paros, you’ll find some great keepsakes.

Nightlife in Paros

Paros holiday Nightlife tends to revolve around charming, modest, family tavernas and bars. Paros holidays in the principal resort of Parikia offer a livelier scene, but Paros holidays are clearly not for those seeking non-stop partying.

There are plenty of bars and night clubs which can be found in the island’s capital, Parikia, and in the picturesque fishing village of Naoussa, which is the centre of Paros’ Nightlife.

There are many beach bars organising various parties and concerts, offering great fun all night. Every kind of bar and night club can be found in Paros, offering every kind of music, for every taste and open all night long.

Eating out in Paros

Eating out in Greece is a late affair, with whole tables of Greek families Eating out at 10pm onwards. The Greek cuisine has a big variety of wonderful foods. They love their meat, but also fresh fish, and the fresh vegetables and tomatoes are to die for.

The Greeks don’t tend to read menus much as they usually ask the chef what is on the menu. When they order a sufficient amount of starters, they share them with everyone on the table. Afterwhich the main course will come, so save some space.

There are plenty of places to eat in Paros and the best guide is whether their tables are empty or busy. The busier the place, the better the food. Whether you’re in the villages or the main town, there are wonderful freshly cooked options available.
