Another draw to Slovenia is the beautiful resort of Portoroz known fondly as the “Port of Roses”. Its well kept parks and their well maintained rose beds ensures that the town lives up to its name. Portoroz also offers a mild climate, good quality hotels and numerous attractions including health and leisure activities, two casinos, a marina and a sandy beach.
The coastline is a mere 46km, strung between Italy and Croatia. The golden sands are a real attraction and the coast is laced with Italian style fishing villages, complete with inviting piazzas, winding streets and laid back beach chic. Slovenia is definitely somewhere you can soak up the sun and relax, forgetting the hassles of home.
If lying around all day gets too much, then there is fabulous food to try in Slovenia. From hearty stews and hot spiced wine, it’s easy to remain well fuelled for your sightseeing. There are endless medieval towns to explore, and it is an excellent way to absorb local culture and sites.
